  2. Hi - the package will be available from the UKIT as soon as the installer is written.

In the meantime, I'm happy to support new installations myself if I have time.

  3. Very exciting! Is this a CLI or GUI? I'm looking forward to using NI-Star. Good question Kyle (I had the same questions). The UKIT web site didn't have any comments.

  4. David:

Thanks for the post response. I will be running a Micor UHF mobile, high-side injected, full-duplex, active low COS, pull to ground PTT, true data (not inverted)...additionally I have two of the DutchStar (Mini-HotSpot KIT w/incl Firmware License)being shipped to me now. I also am completing a 21 element collinear array antenna that will TX on 447.750 and RX on 442.750. You can reach me directly at email address:

as I am anxious to work with your NI-STAR and the G2/Dplus/DstarMonitor software. By the way I am good with command line or GUI ...no preference and have many years experience in working with code and Linux/Windows, etc.. OS

Thanks in advance and I look forward to testing and hopefully helping out with the cause.

  6. David,

Thanks for your help in getting this setup on NW7DR. I have put up a couple of posts about the repeater at my blog at http://k7ve.org

  7. David,

I would also like to get a copy of your software. I have a pair of Motorola UHF Maxtracs and Satoshi's node adapter V7 ready to go.

I am very experienced with linux, CLI, and GUI, so no worries there. Please email me with any questions, you can find my email address in the following recaptcha mailhide link

  9. I have several Kenwood repeaters and satoshi node adapters. I'd like to get a node setup also I'm very interested in applying codec2 as I've made several prototype boards with codec2 support. Is there a development site to access the code? Thanks.

  10. David, I just purchased an Alix.6e2 board and am in the process of setting up a DV access point here in San Diego. When your NI-Star software becomes available I would like to try it out.

    Thanks

  11. Recently, I have been very curious about digital modes and ham radio, and have been heavily researching both MotoTRBO and D-Star, and have started leaning towards the latter as far as technology investments go. As a "Starving College Kid," minimizing cost would odviously be a strong advantage... And for my initial experiments, I will only be needing a repeater and a modem capable of doing the data transfers (I am not immediately interested in voice, further justifying the desire to avoid Icom hardware).

I saw your article at http://www.qsl.net/kb9mwr/projects/voip/dstar/A%20Homebrew%20D-Star%20Repeater.pdf and became very interested in your project. I believe I have found the UKIT website that the package is supposed to be released to (http://www.ukit.org.uk/), but none of the links work, and nothing seems to have been posted there in quite some time. I would very much like to get my hands on the promised "supplement to the Icom G2 installation manual" before running out and grabbing hardware.

As a heavy linux user, I understand that delays happen, and am patient. Also, as a college student on a tight budget, I don't have any funds begging to be spent... So also for that reason, I am patient.

Still, I would love to hear an update... As for the debate over CLI versus GUI, I would tend to lean towards a CLI with a possible menu based configuration tool... Lowers system load to not have to load X.org, and with as often as we would be changing stuff on a repeater, it's everything we need; Not to mention the benefits of being able to SSH into the repeater to fix stuff remotely. But in the end, I don't much care either way... Would just love to get in on the action ;)
