I've added a tag to /var/log/dsipsvd.log that indicates the version of software to D-Star Monitor. This in turn is picked-up by the dstarusers.org page so that machines running my software can be identified.
Now, future support. As I move into new "challenges" at work and the number of installed machines increases, I need to work out how I'm going to allow any group that wants to to build/install a system without compromising the software and without my having to run remote installation. Not quite sure how to work this one out yet, so stay tuned....
